Sunshine, meat pies and world-famous cricket grounds - what else would an England cricket fan possibly want?

Ideally, they'd want an Ashes series in Australia where they retain a possibility to win back the Ashes once the opening games are done.

This is not the case during this tour, after the hosts' dominant 82-run win in Adelaide left the home side 3-0 up for the fourth consecutive series on Australian grounds.

England's famous supporters' group, the vocal contingent, have thousands of supporters making the journey for the concluding fixtures in the SCG and MCG.

There are also tour groups who will celebrate the holidays down under, as well as relatives and companions planning a dream holiday.

The Disappointed Travelers

A group of four supporters are a prime example.

The four siblings had their travel arrangements and match passes booked for the fourth and fifth Tests "12 months ago", hoping to witness a rare England series success.

Instead, they have watched Australia outplay the visitors in just under two weeks from their residence in their hometown.

"Everyone at work has been making comments regarding the concluded contest for the last two weeks," said Sam.

"We always thought that we would have a meaningful contest by the time we arrived."

Fading Positivity

Hope was abundant concerning a potential victory of ending their 15-year wait for a triumph on Australian soil before it began.

Yet now they are staring down the barrel of extending their winless run in the country to 19 matches when the fourth Test gets under way in the MCG on Christmas Day.

Ben Stokes' side - and their followers - will be hoping to sidestep a clean sweep.

One sibling noted the "entertainment" of head coach the aggressive 'Bazball' approach in recent times had "brought fresh energy to" Test cricket for English supporters.

Yet the fans said they had realistic outlooks for the fourth and fifth Tests - and all they are asking for from the players is "a show of spirit".

"Commentators consistently points it out, but it all comes down to fortitude. 'Bazball' has been turned into a buzzword now that is just, like, unrealistic play," added Rory.

"Over the course of five days, you should dig in. Wafting outside 'wide of off stump has not been part of the textbooks, and that is primarily due to the frontline batsmen."

The Remaining Matches

When questioned if he believed England will triumph in a Test in the current series, Sam said: "It appears the Australians are superior right now."

"There is going to have to be several individuals that makes a significant contribution and turns the game."

Even with the series lost, the siblings are still excited about the trip.

"We will have a fantastic experience regardless," said Katie. "Our approach is that outlook."

"Naturally, it's disappointing we can't contest the series, but we have made a substantial financial commitment by now."

"We will make the most of having Christmas and New Year in Australia. This will be a new experience for us abroad over Christmas."

A schoolteacher, Katie is determined to make the most of the long-haul travel as part of her time off.

"As a backup plan, there's always golf to turn to," Katie concluded.
