President Trump Invites Relatives of Attacked Guard Soldiers to White House

Former President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has asked the loved ones of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the White House.

He noted that he spoke to her family and they were “devastated”.

Background on the Devastating Incident

US army specialist Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a violent incident on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in grave state.

Vigils across West Virginia have been held in their honor.

White House Invitation

The commander-in-chief explained he’s talked about a White House visit for the loved ones of both soldiers of the state National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” the president addressed the press. “And likewise with Andrew, recover or not.”

Public Reaction

Community members gathered over the past few days at Webster County high school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.

Both they had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of Trump’s national effort to support public safety in the capital.

Remembering the Soldier

“Sarah was the individual that instructors hoped for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged people around her,” the principal, the leader of her alma mater, informed the press. “She was kind, considerate and always willing to support those in need.”

Memorial plans for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Legal Actions and Policy Changes

Officials have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of homicide and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy prompted the government to pause refugee claims and halt granting visas to holders of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of the Airman

Wolfe, a resident of the city, enlisted in early 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, according to the news agency.

He remains under medical supervision and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s leader Morrisey said on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she planned to visit Wolfe’s family.

Impact of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a law enforcement officer with distinction, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had bravery,” Morrisey told the audience at the vigil. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
