Two students who lost their lives in Saturday’s violent attack on the university campus were being remembered Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their killer persisted following the discharge by Rhode Island officials of the only individual detained in connection in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was called “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, as stated by the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which offered condolences for her at a service on Sunday.

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, an Uzbek national in his first year of studies at the renowned school, family members said.

Umurzokov’s identity was officially acknowledged by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. His ambitions were lofty of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and assisting patients,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a tribute.

What Happened

An additional nine individuals were injured in the weekend shooting in the engineering department of Brown’s university in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Officials stated by the end of Sunday that a man aged 24 arrested in a police operation at a hotel about 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“A perpetrator remains free,” stated Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you must reassess and head another way, and that is the current situation over the last approximately one day.”
